Another feast of old rigs from Brest to Douarnenez, but this time there are many more ships: the Recouvrance, the Fox, The Star and the Belle Poule, ships of the French navy school and a lot more, we can't even name all...
These multitudes of rigs compose the image by dint of crossing and resonance. The morning light gives rhythm to the photo by shadows and materials rich in diversity and reflections. A very beautiful light for this 2004 Boat Festival!
The vessels sail to Douarnenez in a liquid mirage. They defy the gloomy sky and invite the gulls on their boards. Joel Vogt breathes the sea air and transcribes it into an epic picture of a mystic Black and White.
The photographer is captivated by the moment; he transforms reality to keep it forever in our memories. The fleet approaches the dock, anchors grip the sea bed, the sky is covered with thick clouds, and the sun pierces this mantle to offer an immaculate light at Brittany.
All this comes down to the indelible mark of a busy and intense History, and is incrusted in a unique photograph of an indescribable beauty. The birds dance toward the sky, witnesses to an exceptional moment; they twirl and trace sinuous curves that are reminiscent of the strong currents that forged the Breton identity.
Other ships come and push tiny waves to the coast. The ocean is like a gigantic mirror composed by every little wave that arrives to the shore. Flags are carried by the wind while the sails are carefully rolled, waiting for the breeze of an upcoming trip. The Armada is at the pride of place in large format Fine Art prints, unique by 120x150cm/170x220cm format.
